The Big Hope Ten Years On

13th-20th June 2018

Bill Chambers of Liverpool Hope University is helping to organise The Big Hope2 to commemorate the tenth anniversary of Liverpool’s tenure as European Capital of Culture in 2008.

In 2008 over 800 18-35 year olds from 63 different countries attended and many were from UNEECC member universities. We also attracted some eminent speakers including Mary McAleese, President of Ireland, and President AJP Abdul Kalam of India.

In 2008 we promised to repeat the event after a decade. Next year, 2018, is that year!! We will be working with Liverpool City Council and Culture Liverpool as part of the City’s official European Capital of Culture 10 Year anniversary celebrations.

We will be looking at Freedom, Conflict, Equality and Change through the themes of health, migration, faith, innovation, education, sport and culture, communication, work and business  and community and the environment.

There will be Keynote Lectures, Discussions, Practical Activities (dance, music, film making, creative writing, sculpture), Exhibitions and Performances, Social Activities and Day Trips.

You are invited to bring students and/or young colleagues to The Big Hope2. In addition if you have access any potential keynote speakers (eg Presidents or Kings!) or discussion leaders from your country please let me know so we can invite them to attend.
