UNeECC President Prof. Flora Carrijn (KU Leuven University) thanked Prof. Makridakis for the hospitality and the involvement of Neapolis University in the network. Members of the UNeECC Board that attended were Dr. William Chambers (Pro Vice-Chancellor Emeritus, Liverpool Hope University-UK), Prof. Fiona Catherine Chambers (Director of Sports Studies and Physical Education, University College Cork –IR), Dr. László Imre Komlósi (Vice Rector of International Affairs, Széchenyi István University, Gyor, West Hungary), Katrin Holmqvist-Sten (Senior Lecturer – Associate Professor, Cerum – Center of Regional Science, Sliperiet –SE), Prof. Carmel Cassar (Associate Professor, University of Malta-MA), Dr. Daniela Preda (UNeECC General Secretary, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu-RO), Ovidiu Matiu (Chairman of UNeECC Scientific Committee, Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu-RO), Prof. Louise Ejgod Hansen (Associate Professor, Member of UNeECC Scientific Committee, School of Communication and Culture – Dramaturgy, Aarhus University-DK), and Prof. Lone Jřrgensen (Member of Aarhus Organizing Committee, Institute for helse- og omsorgsfag, Norway). Dr. Konstantinos Tsagkaridis, a lecturer in Experimental Psychology, was invited to analyse the participation of the School of Health Sciences in the Pafos 2017 Cultural Barometer, and Yannis Koutsolambros, member of the Pafos 2017 Cultural Capital of Europe Board, presented the work of the Organisation.
Dr. Georgi offered the members of the Board a visit in the architecture studio, where students are currently working on a project for Pafos 2017, under the supervision of Dr. Georgi, Evanthia Dova and Angeliki Sivitanidou, lecturers in the Architecture programme. “Spatial Counterpoint”, a project led by Erica Charalambous, dancer and choreographer, is a collaborative dance performance- intervention in the historic center of Pafos, in which choreographers, architects, and dance and architecture students from Pafos and abroad will participate.
The visitors expressed their interest in the contribution of Neapolis University and the work that is being undertaken with respect to Pafos 2017 Cultural Capital of Europe. Scientific collaborations are already under way, such as signing an Erasmus Agreement with Lucian Blaga University of Sibiu (RO), and the participation of Neapolis University as a supporting institution in the European Conference RE-VALUE – Rethinking the value of arts and culture, organized by Aarhus University (DK), after a proposal by Dr. Georgi which was unanimously approved.
